OPEN HIGHWAY MUSIC FESTIVAL 2021

St. Louis’s Open Highway Music Festival is returning this year and in a big way. The four-day event, featuring some of the biggest names in Rock, Americana, Country, and Indie music, is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this summer. The home-grown festival kicks off Friday, August 5th, and continues through Sunday, August 8th, at Chesterfield Amphitheater.

After nine years at the landmark Off Broadway in the Cherokee-Lemp District, 2020’s event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This year, Open Highway vows to bring the music back: “There is an insatiable need and desire to see live music. We feel it, and we know the people of St. Louis feel it, too,” says Open Highway founder John Henry.

“We are honored and excited to be working with the Open Highway Music Festival on their 10th Anniversary,” Jason Baucom of the Chesterfield Amphitheater echoes. “The Chesterfield Amphitheater is also celebrating its 10th Anniversary, so this makes for a perfect partnership and an even better celebration. Together we will be working closely with St. Louis County health officials to provide a safe, enjoyable, and unique experience for all music fans.”

While ambitious in today’s environment, the event is leading the way in COVID-19 prevention and attendee safety. “Our primary focus is to bring a safe and memorable experience to the region with some of the most exciting artists touring today,” says Henry.

We will be following all current St. Louis County Dept of Health Guidelines.

In its nine previous editions, Open Highway has hosted some of the biggest artists in roots music, including Sturgill Simpson, Turnpike Troubadours, Norah Jones, Ryan Bingham, Josh Ritter, Nikki Lane, Hayes Carll, Amanda Shires, Marty Stuart, and many more.

In addition to national acts, the festival will feature some of the most promising local and regional artists, as well as culinary selections from local restaurants and vendors. “The St. Louis area is rich with talent and enjoys an amazing food scene. It is important to our team that a lot of what the audience will be seeing, hearing, drinking, and eating are things that are homegrown in our area,” says Henry.

Staying true to the OHM's local community focus, $1 from every ticket sold will be donated to the St. Louis Area Food Bank. “Like a lot of people, I welcome the safe return of live music,” says the Food Bank President and CEO, Meredith Knopp. “We’re proud to partner with the Open Highway Music Festival. With each ticket sold, we can provide four meals to needy families, so this festival has the potential to help a lot of people in the bi-state area who are struggling with food insecurity.”
